A single Charcoal board adds a dark accent to five Redwood boards in this horizontal composite privacy fence. The nominal 6 × 3 ft panel brings the two colors together inside Private Black metal framing.
Both colors have a wood grain surface and a wood plastic composite core. Redwood boards use a blend of wood fibers and recycled plastic beneath a protective PE outer layer. The wrap helps these Redwood boards resist moisture, fading and decay. This modern horizontal fence uses composite boards for the infill, with separate metal posts and rails for support.
Tongue-and-groove edges join the six boards into a closed face. Full privacy refers to the board layout at this low height. A ½-inch gap remains below the fence, separate from the board joints.
For fence installation, galvanized steel fence posts go into the ground and aluminum rails support the infill above and below. The drawing lists 39 inches of post height above ground and 13 inches below. Compare fence styles in the composite fence collection to plan adjoining sections.

Limited warranty periods (residential / commercial use):
- Structural defects in Charcoal and Redwood boards and covered metal fence parts: up to 25 / 10 years.
- Covered Charcoal and Redwood board color changes: up to 25 / 10 years.
- Coastal metal coating defects: up to 5 / 3 years.
- Non-coastal metal coating defects: up to 15 / 10 years.
- Covered metal finish fading, all locations: up to 8 / 5 years.
For metal coating coverage, use the nearest shoreline of an ocean, sea or saltwater bay. Salt or brackish tidal estuaries also count. Measure in a straight line from the installed part. A distance of 10 miles or less is coastal; farther away is non-coastal.
Qualifying defects under normal use must meet the written terms, including color and coating claim conditions. Metal coverage applies only to covered parts and eligible factory finishes.
Normal airborne coastal salt and salt spray alone do not exclude qualifying coating claims. The metal warranty excludes direct saltwater immersion or splash damage.
Remaining coverage transfers with property ownership. Products must stay at the original site. Keep records of the products and original purchase date. Transfer or replacement does not restart coverage.
For approved claims, Modern Yard refunds or replaces defective boards or parts. The original net purchase price determines the amount. The amount drops over time under the warranty schedule.
Metal coating compensation is 100% in the term’s first half, 50% in the second. Other claims follow separate schedules.
We do not pay for labor, installation, removal, reinstallation, freight or shipping. This changes if required by law or if Modern Yard expressly agrees in writing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many board packs should I order for this color mix?
Each color comes in packs of four boards. One isolated panel uses five Redwood boards and one Charcoal board, so it needs two Redwood packs and one Charcoal pack if starting with no boards. For several composite fence panels, add the demand for each color before rounding to full packs. Component Needs shows the material share for one section.
Does the half-post quantity mean one panel needs only one post?
An independent panel needs two installed posts. The listed half-post share applies to each bay in a continuous run, where neighboring panels share a post. One 114-inch stock post can supply two short posts for this layout. Count a free-standing end separately. Add one extra cap per stock post cut into two, then subtract any spare caps already on hand.
Which single gate matches the Redwood and Charcoal panel?
The matching Redwood and Charcoal composite single gate uses the same five-Redwood, one-Charcoal board mix in a nominal 3.5 × 3.5 ft size. Check that gate page for its own post spacing, mounting details and components. Use the gate’s specifications when planning the opening; the fence panel dimensions do not define the gate opening.
