Modern Yard FireGuard™ fencing is a steel-based fencing system designed for enhanced durability and fire resistance. Made from galvanized steel and finished with a UV- and fire-resistant powder coating, it provides superior protection against flames, rust, termites, and fading.
Its bold, wide-panel design delivers a luxurious modern look while ensuring structural strength. Compatible with Modern Yard Vertical and Gate Systems, FireGuard™ combines fire safety with clean, contemporary style.
Backed by a 25-year limited warranty, FireGuard™ is a fencing solution you can trust in a wide range of environments.
Yes. Modern Yard FireGuard™ panels are designed specifically for fire resistance and have achieved a Class A Flame Spread Rating under ASTM E84, the highest rating available for flame spread performance.
This rating reflects FireGuard’s ability to limit flame spread and smoke development, making it a strong choice for applications where fire safety and performance are key considerations.
At this time, WUI certification standards for fencing products are still evolving, and a clearly defined, widely adopted approval process for fencing has not yet been fully established.
Following the successful completion of ASTM E84 fire testing, Modern Yard continues to closely monitor and engage with the development of WUI standards as they mature.
For many fire-related applications today, ASTM E84 Class A certification already meets or exceeds current fire-performance requirements, and FireGuard panels are widely accepted based on this standard.
This can vary depending on the insurance provider and the judgment of the home inspector. Each insurance company applies its own criteria when evaluating fire risk and mitigation measures for a property.
Modern Yard provides Class A fire-performance documentation (ASTM E84) in the Resource Center on our website for reference. These documents can be shared with insurers, inspectors, or other authorities when discussing fire-resistance considerations for your property.
While fire-resistant fencing may be viewed as a positive factor, final insurance decisions are made by the insurer or inspector based on their specific requirements.
Modern Yard FireGuard panels are designed for vertical installation and are not recommended for horizontal installation.
Because of FireGuard’s bold, wide-panel profile, installing the panels horizontally can cause dust, debris, and moisture to collect in the panel grooves over time. This can affect the fence’s appearance and increase cleaning effort and long-term maintenance.
For the best visual result and long-term performance, FireGuard panels are intended to be installed vertically as part of the Modern Yard Vertical and Gate Systems.
For vertical installation, a standard FireGuard fence section is 8 feet wide and 6 feet high.
If additional height is needed, FireGuard fencing can be combined with Modern Yard Air slats to increase the total fence height to up to 7 feet. This hybrid configuration allows for added height while maintaining a clean, modern appearance.
Yes. FireGuard panels can be cut to size, allowing them to be adjusted for custom fence widths or layouts, such as a 5-foot-wide by 6-foot-high section.
Panels can be trimmed as needed during installation to accommodate site-specific requirements, while still maintaining a clean appearance and proper fit within the Modern Yard system.
Yes. FireGuard fencing is a true “good neighbor” fence, meaning both sides look the same.
The FireGuard panels are designed with identical front and back appearances, so both you and your neighbor see the same clean, finished look.
Any A/B side labeling shown in installation videos or instructions is for installation reference only and does not indicate a difference in appearance between the two sides of the panel.
Yes. All Modern Yard fencing products, including FireGuard, are designed and built to commercial-grade standards.
Modern Yard products are developed with complete technical drawings and specifications, prepared in accordance with commercial project review and approval requirements. This makes FireGuard fencing well suited for commercial, multi-family, and professional installations, and architect-friendly for project planning and submittals.
At the same time, FireGuard maintains a clean, modern appearance that works equally well in residential applications.
Modern Yard FireGuard fencing can be cleaned using a soft white cloth, warm water, and mild soap, followed by a thorough rinse with clean water.
For dirt, dust, or light stains, an all-purpose cleaner such as Chomp® Gutter Cleaner can also be used effectively.
Do not use solvent-based or abrasive cleaners, such as Goof Off®, graffiti removers, nail polish remover, or similar products, as these may damage the protective coating and surface finish.
Regular, gentle cleaning will help maintain the appearance and performance of your FireGuard fence over time.
Yes. FireGuard panels can be used as gate infill, allowing you to build a gate that perfectly matches your FireGuard fence.
Modern Yard gate frames are designed to accept FireGuard panels, ensuring a consistent appearance, structural strength, and clean finish between the fence and gate.
At this time, FireGuard panels are available in one signature color—a sophisticated gray-black tone designed to match seamlessly with Modern Yard steel posts and rails.
This carefully selected color delivers a modern, high-end appearance while maintaining visual consistency across the entire Modern Yard FireGuard fence and gate system.
Applying paint, stain, or other coatings is not recommended and may impact product performance or warranty coverage.
